Description

Constant Lambert Beyond the Rio Grande by Stephen Lloyd is an indispensable biography that sheds new light on this extraordinary, multi-talented man. Despite his tragic early death, Lambert's legacy remains largely unrecognized today, making this book a vital contribution to our understanding of British musical life in the first part of the twentieth century. This comprehensive study examines every aspect of Lambert's career and life, from his music to his journalism, talks for the BBC, and personal relationships. With numerous music examples, extensive appendices, and a unique iconography, Lloyd provides a detailed and engaging portrait of a man who was both brilliant and selfless.
