Description

Description

Confucius was a scholar, philosopher and political sage who lived in ancient China during a time of great turmoil. In response to the conflicts that plagued his country, he developed a system of social and political behaviour aimed at creating harmony and peace.

Despite being largely ignored by the rulers of China's kingdoms during his lifetime, Confucius' teachings eventually gained widespread influence, shaping Chinese government, education and social structure, as well as being adopted by the rulers of neighbouring Vietnam, Korea and Japan. Today, understanding his philosophy remains essential for grasping China's history.

This biography offers a thoughtful exploration of Confucius' life and legacy, examining why his teachings continue to be relevant in modern times.
