Description

Condensations is a unique collection of poetry that brings together fragments from various sources. During his residency at the Armitt Museum and Library in Ambleside, Cumbria, writer Nathan Walker created these texts by erasing material from pages of books and manuscripts and superimposing partially erased pages.

The resulting poems are constructed from a range of subjects, including the history of rock climbing in the Lake District, Cumbrian dialect, industrial heritage, Westmorland mythology and rituals, and cultural figures from Cumbrian history. Walker has also incorporated his own original writing, transcribed conversations with his grandfather, and references to local place-names.

This innovative approach to poetry creates a distinctive and thought-provoking work that explores the intersection of language, culture, and place.
