Description
Exploring the complex concept of jouissance, this book examines its evolution from material possessions to pleasure and orgasm. Adèle van Reeth and Jean-Luc Nancy engage in a lively dialogue with philosophers, ranging from consumerism to mysticism.
The authors consider how jouissance has been redefined over time, drawing on thinkers such as Spinoza, Hegel, and the Marquis de Sade, as well as writers like Marguerite Duras and Henry Miller. Four additional essays are included in this American edition.
