Description

Columbo Paying Attention 24/7 by David Martin-Jones is a thought-provoking exploration of how our globalised world emerged in the late 20th century. The author, Professor of Film Studies at the University of Glasgow, examines the television series Columbo and its enduring popularity. Martin-Jones reveals how Columbo reflects the influences of its time, including Peter Falk's acting style and the show's depiction of Los Angeles. By re-viewing the series today, it becomes clear how contemporary television continues to shape our attention and performance in a 24/7 world. This book is part of Martin-Jones' research into the roles film and television play in shaping our lives under globalisation. Columbo Paying Attention 24/7 offers a fascinating insight into the connections between old and new media, and how they continue to influence our culture today.
