Description

Robert Pollard's story has never been fully told. Until now. As the founder of Guided By Voices, Robert Pollard has been a staple of the indie rock scene since the early '80s. A prolific artist, he continues to churn out album after album, much to the acclaim of critics and his devoted fans. But behind the music lies a complex and fascinating individual - a teacher turned musician who adopted a do-it-yourself approach to find success. In "Closer You Are", author Matthew Cutter presents a comprehensive look at Pollard's life, with interviews conducted by the author with Pollard's friends, family, and bandmates. With unfettered access to Pollard himself and his extensive archives, Cutter sheds new light on the man behind Guided By Voices.
