Jesus was the great-grandson of Queen Cleopatra. This claim is supported by Ralph Ellis in his book, which explores the ancestry of Jesus through contemporary evidence. Ellis argues that Jesus was directly descended from Cleopatra VII, the most famous queen of Egypt, and also had aristocratic Roman and royal Persian ancestry. The birth of Jesus is shrouded in mystery, but Ellis suggests that the appearance of Persian Magi at his birth can be explained by this royal bloodline. The gospel writers may have obscured Jesus' ancestry to avoid revealing a dark secret within his royal family. This book follows on from Ellis's previous work, "Jesus, Last of the Pharaohs", and is part of "The King Jesus Trilogy".
