Description
This book introduces classical art and architecture as formal structures with its own set of generative rules. It explores how these rules are used in composition, drawing parallels with music, poetry, and drama.
The authors draw on a range of sources, including Vitruvius, Aristotle, and the theories of classical architecture, to present classical architecture as a coherent system that can produce meaningful public art.
With over 200 line drawings, this book provides an extensive analysis of compositional rules and serves as both an introductory theory of composition and a basic design aid.
