Description

Clark Richert in Hyperspace by Zoe Larkins is a comprehensive exploration of the work of Denver-based abstract painter Clark Richert. The book chronicles Richert's nearly 50-year career, tracing the development of his unique artistic vision and its connection to philosophical concepts of n-dimensionality or hyperspace. Richert's paintings are characterized by their exploration of dimensions beyond the three with which we are familiar, a pursuit that is not solely driven by geometric or philosophical considerations. For Richert, art is the tool by which this idealistic reality can be realized. The book examines the visual manifestation of these ideas and links them to the work of early 20th-century avant-gardists who also engaged with hyperspace philosophy. Published on the occasion of a major retrospective exhibition at MCA Denver, Clark Richert in Hyperspace provides a detailed understanding of Richert's oeuvre and its place within the broader context of modernist art.
