Description
Idra Novey's chapbook explores the complexities of translation through two sequences of poems. In "Letters to Clarice", she reflects on her experience translating Brazilian novelist Clarice Lispector's work, sending poems in the form of letters. This is complemented by images of books that seem both inviting and resistant to reading.
In the second sequence, "Regarding Marmalade, Cognates, and Visitors", Novey discovers how translating relates to hosting visitors, particularly her newborn son. Her texts are accompanied by images created by artist Erica Baum.
