Description
Christmas at Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons is a humorous tale of a disastrous family gathering. On this festive occasion, Adam Lambsbreath dresses up as Father Christmas in two of Judith's red shawls, while Aunt Ada Doom orders Amos to carve the turkey with a rather unusual request. The story takes place before the arrival of Flora Poste and is a parody of the worst sort of family Christmas. Unsuitable presents are exchanged, unpleasant insertions are made into the pudding, and the atmosphere is tense. Stella Gibbons's writing style has been likened to that of Jane Austen, offering a witty and engaging read for those looking for a humorous tale of rural life.
