Description

Christianity, Race, and Sport explores the complex relationship between Protestant Christianity and race in the United States, with a focus on its impact on the sporting world over the last century.

This thought-provoking book examines key figures and case studies, including the intersection of sports and faith, and how these interactions have often had a negative impact on Black bodies. It also delves into the experiences of athletes such as Serena Williams and Colin Kaepernick, who have used their platforms to speak out against racism.

Accessible and engaging, this book is an ideal introduction for students new to the subjects of religion, race, and sport, or for those working in related fields such as sociology, history, or philosophy. It provides a valuable perspective on a significant and often overlooked area of study.
