Description
A dark and twisted coming-of-age story by Anna Jordan, winner of the 2013 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting. Hendrix is growing up, but his attempts to prove his masculinity are fraught with challenges. He's fed up with his mother's constant preaching on an organic lifestyle, her girlfriend, and the bullies at school who think he must be gay if his mum is. In a desperate bid to assert his identity, Hendrix enters a world that's not for him, but finds himself drawn to a young girl enslaved in an unbearable life. In a secret friendship that blossoms in stolen moments above a chicken shop, Hendrix and the girl find solace in each other's company. A powerful and thought-provoking play that explores themes of identity, masculinity, and the complexities of human relationships.
