Description
Chelsea Through Time by Brian Girling Discover the history and charm of Chelsea, a district that has evolved from a rural village to a fashionable destination for the rich. From its Saxon roots to its current status as a vibrant part of London, this unique collection of old and new images explores the transformation of Chelsea over time. The 19th century saw significant development in Chelsea, with the opening of Chelsea Bridge, Albert Bridge, and the Chelsea Embankment. The district's reputation for bohemian creativity emerged during the Victorian era, and by the 1960s, it had become synonymous with 'Swinging London'. This book brings together old and new images to tell the story of Chelsea, a place that is home to famous landmarks such as the Chelsea bun and the Chelsea FC football club.
