Description
Charley Patton was born and raised around Mississippi's cotton plantations in 1891. He became one of the region's great stars in the 1920s, performing for packed houses throughout the South and making popular recordings in New York City. Patton's music is distinctive for its gravelly singing and propulsive guitar beat. His stage presence was lively, and he originated many of the guitar-playing antics now associated with other musicians. This new edition of a previously published work offers fresh perspectives on Patton's music, based on notes from a Grammy-winning box set.
