Description
Cork, situated in the south-west of Ireland, has long been a city shaped by its unique position at the edge of Western Europe. This blend of influences from across the continent and beyond has given rise to a vibrant and historic 21st-century city.
The city's rich heritage is reflected in its diverse cultural traditions, from its history to its sports, commerce, education, and maritime heritage. In Celebrating Cork, local author Kieran McCarthy explores the many reasons why this city holds such a special place in the hearts of both locals and visitors.
Through its pages, you'll discover the layers that make Cork so unique, from its port's history to its key institutions, charities, and engineering feats. With its blend of familiar and lesser-known aspects, Celebrating Cork is a valuable contribution to local history and a source of civic pride for all who are drawn to this remarkable city.
