Description
Celebrating C.L.R. James in Hackney, London explores a pivotal moment in Britain's anti-racism movement, marking the renaming of the Dalston Library to the C.L.R. James Library in 1985.
Behind this symbolic event lies an inspiring story of resistance to racism, featuring rare interviews and contributions from the activists who made it happen.
The book also includes a previously unpublished speech by C.L.R. James in 1983 to Hackney Black Alliance, shedding light on a historic moment when black self-organisation, municipal socialism, and anti-racist campaigning came together to achieve success.
