Description
Ferdinand von Schirach's debut novel, El caso Collini, is a gripping and unflinching exploration of the darker side of justice. When Fabrizio Collini, a 34-year-old former Mercedes-Benz employee, shoots an elderly man to death at a Berlin hotel, the case sets off a chain reaction of events that challenge the young lawyer Caspar Leinen's skills and morals. As Leinen takes on the defence of his client, he is forced to navigate a complex web of conflicting loyalties and interests. The victim was also the abuelo of Leinen's first love, who reappears unexpectedly to demand that Leinen drop the case. With the investigation pointing to a disturbing chapter in Germany's judicial history, Leinen must confront his own reputation and career. A tense and thought-provoking thriller, El caso Collini raises important questions about the flaws in the justice system and the true cost of defending those who cannot defend themselves.
