Description
Carpe Fin A Haida Manga by Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas is a hand-painted graphic novel that blends manga with Haida tradition. In this prequel to Red, the acclaimed artist explores the story of Carpe, a carpenter who finds himself stranded on an isolated rock in the ocean. A small community's struggles are exacerbated by a series of disasters, including a fuel spill that contaminates their food supply. As they search for sea lions, one man is left behind and must confront the Lord of the Rock, who demands retribution for his role in the hunt. The story follows Carpe's journey as he navigates the half-life between human and animal, life and death. With its unique blend of art and tradition, Carpe Fin A Haida Manga offers a thought-provoking exploration of identity, community, and the natural world.
