Description
Campo cerrado tells the story of Rafael López Serrador's initiation into life, a young man from Castellón who arrives in Barcelona at the outset of the Spanish Civil War. He finds an atmosphere of intense political fervour, with confrontations both verbal and physical, starkly different from the idealised adolescence that led him to leave his hometown and board the train.
This first instalment in Max Aub's legendary series, El laberinto mágico, is a powerful exploration of the war and its aftermath. Through his writing, Aub seeks to capture the brutal reality of conflict and the devastating consequences of forgetting.
