Description
Camp Forrest was a self-sustaining city located on the outskirts of Tullahoma, Tennessee, during World War II. Over 70,000 soldiers were stationed here, along with approximately 12,000 civilians.
As the war progressed, Camp Forrest underwent several transformations, becoming an enemy alien internment camp in 1942 and a POW camp housing primarily German and Italian prisoners by mid-1943. After the war ended, the base was decommissioned and dismantled in 1946.
The images within this book provide a glimpse into the effects and realities of a global war on American soil, with few remains of this important facility remaining today.
