Description
Calendars in the Dead Sea Scrolls Measuring Time by James C. VanderKam explores the evidence about calendars in the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Hebrew Bible and other ancient Jewish texts. The book examines the pertinent texts, their sources and the different uses to which people put calendrical information in the Christian world. This study provides a valuable addition to the Dead Sea Scrolls Series, contributing to our understanding of the scroll texts themselves and their relation to other Biblical texts. By examining calendars in these ancient texts, VanderKam sheds new light on the history of timekeeping and its significance for understanding the Jewish calendar and its impact on Christian chronology.
