Description
By Any Name by Cynthia Voigt This novel tells the story of Rida, an orphan from California who dances for the troops in the USO, and Spencer, a naval officer with roots in New England's upper crust. They meet at an Officer's Club dance during World War II, and their courtship is easy, but Rida's unconventional approach to marriage, motherhood, and life causes tension within Spencer's family. As Rida's four daughters grow older, they struggle to understand their mother's unique perspective on life. Despite the challenges she faces, Rida remains a loving and mesmerizing presence in their lives. This novel explores the complexities of family relationships and the power of a strong, independent woman. Cynthia Voigt's writing brings to life an indelible character who sees lines as meant to be crossed, changing the lives of all those around her with her indefatigable spirit.
