Description

Britain's DMUs: 1986-2022 by George Woods The second generation of diesel multiple units (DMUs) arrived on the British rail network in the late 1980s, replacing older models. Among these new arrivals were the Class 141 Pacers, four-wheel units based on a wagon chassis with a Leyland bus body, designed for branch-line services. The Class 150 Sprinter two-car train followed soon after, while the 155/156 Super Sprinters and Express Sprinter took over longer journeys. These DMUs played an important role in the network's operations, particularly in Scotland where they were used on long-distance routes. A wealth of previously unpublished photographs captures their use in various locations across the country. This book celebrates the second generation of DMUs, featuring a collection of interesting images and providing insight into their history and operation.
