Description
Gopal and his family are forced to flee their rural village in search of work and a brighter future. Trapped by poverty and desperation, they settle in Mumbai's city streets, hoping to find a way out of their struggles. In the city, Gopal is approached with a promise of a factory job, but instead finds himself trapped in a sweatshop where he and five other boys are forced to work for little food and no pay. The boys are forbidden from speaking or using their real names, leaving them feeling isolated and alone. It is only when one of the boys shares stories, or kahanis, that Gopal realizes the power of storytelling as a means of survival. By finding common ground with his fellow workers, they may be able to make their lives more bearable and even find a way to escape their difficult circumstances.
