Description

Bouchra Khalili Stories within Stories by Arnisa Zeqo is a monograph that showcases the artist's distinctive storytelling style, which combines elements of performance and narrative. This publication accompanies an exhibition at the Bildmuseet in Umeå, Sweden, and explores Khalili's use of storytelling strategies inspired by both avant-garde movements and traditional Moroccan folk culture. Khalili's work draws on a range of performative techniques for telling stories, from what is described as "civil poetry" to the tradition of marokkanische Al-Halqa. The accompanying essays provide context and analysis for these narrative forms. This book offers a unique insight into Khalili's artistic practice and provides a valuable resource for anyone interested in contemporary art and storytelling.
