Description
Borderland Apocrypha by Anthony Cody is an experimental poetic collection that excavates the traumas born of turbulence at borderlands. This debut work responds to the destabilized landscapes and silenced histories of these regions, reimagining forms of resistance in its avant-garde style. The poems in Borderland Apocrypha explore familial and communal histories, structural racism, and natural ecosystems, revealing how the past continues to inform actions, policies, and perceptions in North and Central America. Part auto-historia, part docu-poetic, this collection unearths history in order to work toward survival, reckoning, and a future that acknowledges and moves on from tragedies of the past. By reoccupying what has been omitted, Cody's collection signals a necessary liberation, ushering the earth and its people toward healing.
