Description

Black Athena Revisited challenges traditional views of Western civilization's origins and cultural influences. Mary R. Lefkowitz and Guy MacLean Rogers argue that ancient Egyptians and Phoenicians had a significant impact on the development of Greek culture, particularly in fields such as religion, science, and philosophy.

The authors examine the extent to which these non-Western cultures influenced Western thought, questioning the notion that ancient Greeks were the sole precursors of modern Western civilization. This provocative study offers a fresh perspective on the complex history of cultural exchange and borrowing.
