Description

Giannozzo Manetti's Biographical Writings brings together the renowned biographies of three Italian literary giants: Dante, Petrarch, and Boccaccio. Written by one of the leading humanist biographers of the Renaissance, these works helped establish the canon of Italian literature. This collection also includes parallel lives of two influential philosophers, Socrates and Seneca, which remained the standard biographical sources for those thinkers throughout the early modern period. Additionally, it features extended excerpts from Manetti's On Famous Men of Great Age and Against the Jews and the Gentiles, offering insights into a range of Italian literary figures. A valuable resource for scholars and literature enthusiasts alike, Giannozzo Manetti's Biographical Writings provides a unique window into the lives and works of some of Italy's most significant writers.
