Billy Bat no4 is a Spanish-language graphic novel by Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki. Published in 2011, it follows Kevin Yamagata, a Japanese-American cartoonist living in Los Angeles in 1949. Kevin's comic series, Billy Bat, features a private investigator who solves cases with the style of classic film noir detectives from the 1940s and 1950s. One day, police officers investigating a possible Soviet spy arrive at Kevin's home, where they notice similarities between his work on Billy Bat and a character from their own investigation. The officers' comment sparks Kevin's curiosity about how this character may have originated, leading him to wonder if he might have inadvertently borrowed the idea during his time in Japan as part of the US occupation forces.
