Billy Bat no2 is a Spanish-language graphic novel by Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki. In 1949, Kevin Yamagata, a second-generation Japanese American, works as a comic book author for Marble Comics in Los Angeles. His work features a private investigator known as Billy Bat, inspired by the classic film noir detectives of the 1940s and 1950s. One day, police officers investigating a possible Soviet spy arrive at Kevin's home, where they discover his comic book pages featuring Billy Bat. The officer comments that he recognizes the character from his time in Japan during the occupation as an American soldier. This sparks Kevin's curiosity, leading him to wonder if he may have unintentionally borrowed the character idea. This graphic novel explores themes of identity and cultural exchange through Kevin's investigation into the origins of Billy Bat.
