Description

Bartleby and Co by Enrique Vila-Matas is a novel about a man who has lost his creative spark. Marcelo, a clerk in a Barcelona office, once wrote a novel about the impossibility of love but now finds himself unable to write anything. He becomes obsessed with finding other characters like him - those who refuse to do something when asked. Marcelo's solution is to keep a diary and write footnotes to an invisible text, referencing authors both real and invented. This quirky approach provides humorous and thought-provoking commentary on literature and life. With its engaging narrative and witty observations, Bartleby and Co is a unique and entertaining read. The book is written in English and published by Vintage in 2005. It is available in paperback with 192 pages.
