Description
Aria Dean's selected writings offer a trenchant critique of representational systems through her unique lens as artist, writer, and filmmaker. By mapping the forces of aesthetic theory, image regimes, and visibility onto questions of race and power, Dean challenges dominant narratives and explores new ways to think about subjectivity and sociality. Dean's work is characterized by its fixation on the subject and its borders, and this collection filters that inquiry through digital networks, art history, and Black radical thought. The essays compiled here were written over a six-year span and originally published in various contexts, including an exhibition catalogue and academic journals.
