Description
A unique and deeply personal collection of poems from 17th-century Italian poet Francesca Turini Bufalini. In her Rime (1627-28), Bufalini wrote a series of sonnets that offer a rare glimpse into the life of a European woman during this period.
These poems are remarkable for their autobiographical nature, with Bufalini openly declaring her own experiences and emotions. She describes her childhood, marriage, motherhood, and widowhood, as well as her relationships with family members and her surroundings.
This bilingual edition includes an introduction and notes that explore Bufalini's style, themes, and quality as a poet, as well as comparisons to Italian poets of the time. A valuable resource for anyone interested in 17th-century literature and women's writing.
