Description

The Piano Lesson by August Wilson tells the story of Boy Willie's return to Pittsburgh in 1936. He has come with a battered truck loaded with watermelons, and an opportunity to buy some land down home. However, he needs to find a way to raise the money quickly.

Boy Willie wants to sell his family's old piano, which is covered in intricate carvings detailing their history from slavery. The problem is that the piano is shared with his sister, who has already rejected several offers due to its sentimental value.

The tension between Boy Willie and his sister builds as he tries to persuade her to let him sell the piano. But she proves to be more formidable than he anticipated, highlighting the complexities of their family's past.
