Description
At Her Majesty's Pleasure is Robert Douglas' personal memoir, covering his experiences as a prison officer and later as an electricity chargehand in the Yorkshire Dales. His stories are filled with anecdotes about famous criminals, including the Krays, the Richardsons, and the Great Train Robbers.
Through his tales, Douglas evokes the sense of social change that gripped Britain during the 1960s and beyond, from the post-war gloom to the bright lights of the Beatles era. This is a unique glimpse into life behind bars and on the roads of Yorkshire.
