Description
Artificial Dreams: A Critical Examination of Artificial Intelligence This book offers a critical perspective on Artificial Intelligence (AI), exploring how cognitive science can inform our understanding of human cognition. By examining AI successes and failures, Ekbia seeks to distinguish between "dreams" that have been or could be realized, and those that are constructed through discourse and may remain unrealizable. The author's analysis reveals how some driving forces behind AI research contribute valuable insights, while others falter in delivering on their promises. This nuanced examination sheds light on the complexities of AI development and its potential to advance science, engineering, and practical systems. Through this critical lens, Ekbia breaks new ground in understanding the nature of AI research and its aspirations.
