Description
In Kristen Simmons's Article 5, the United States has been transformed into a dystopian society. The Bill of Rights has been revoked and replaced with the Moral Statutes, bringing strict control over every aspect of citizens' lives. Seventeen-year-old Ember Miller knows this reality all too well, having grown up in a world where people are arrested for minor infractions. Ember's life is one of quiet desperation, as she navigates the complexities of her oppressive environment with caution. Her mother's arrest sets off a chain of events that puts Ember in direct conflict with Chase Jennings, an officer who has been tasked with enforcing the new laws. As Ember struggles to survive in this unforgiving world, she must confront the harsh realities of her own past and the true cost of living under Article 5. With its gripping narrative and thought-provoking themes, Article 5 is a compelling read for fans of dystopian fiction.
