Description
Angela Davis's autobiography offers a powerful and commanding account of her life in struggle. First published in 1974, this new edition features an expansive introduction by the author, reflecting her excitement about its release at a time when collective demands for radical change are being made. Born on Dynamite Hill in Birmingham, Alabama, Angela Davis has been a political activist at the forefront of the Black Liberation, feminist, queer, and prison abolitionist movements for over 50 years. Her journey is one of activism, from her early involvement in New York high schools to her work with the U.S. Communist Party, the Black Panther Party, and the Soledad Brothers. Told with warmth, brilliance, humor, and conviction, this autobiography provides a compelling account of Davis's life in struggle, with echoes that resonate in our own time.
