Description
An Artist in Venice by Adam Van Doren is a personal and informed account of his love affair with the city. As an artist, he sees Venice through his own eyes, yet is also well-informed about its history and aesthetic heritage.
The city's charms have long been a magnet for artists, from Bellini and Canaletto to Whistler and Turner. Van Doren's story is one of how this city has inspired him, and how he has come to understand it through his own artistic vision.
With 21 full-color drawings by the author/artist, as well as a preface by Theodore Rabb and a foreword by Simon Winchester, this book offers a rich and convincing tour of Venice. A useful companion for anyone interested in art, history, or travel.
