Description
Ambulance Chasers is a series of photographic diptychs that explore the behavior of images and investigate American precarity. Each photograph pairs a personal injury lawyer's face, taken from roadside billboards, with a landscape they survey. The gesture is one of double rotation: each image is imagined as the spectator of the other, deflating the exorbitant promises of the animated lawyers against the often featureless roadside landscapes. The photographs showcase the neatly coiffed and unnaturally dark hair of the lawyers, gazing at various American landscapes. A conceptual performance by artist Abraham Adams is accompanied by a text by art historian David Joselit, which unfolds alongside the photographs like a long, broken caption.
