Description
Allison Katz Artery is a richly illustrated volume that explores the work of Canadian artist Allison Katz. Her paintings, ceramics, and posters are characterized by a restless sense of humor and articulate what she calls "genuine ambiguity." This book brings together essays from two prominent art center directors, as well as a text by the artist herself, to examine the themes of identity, expression, selfhood, and voice in her work. Featuring 50 full-color image plates of Katz's artwork, Artery also includes 150 reference images compiled by the artist. The book is published on the occasion of Katz's first institutional exhibition in the United Kingdom, presented at Nottingham Contemporary and Camden Art Centre in 2021 and 2022 respectively. Gathering insights from two key figures in the art world, this publication offers a unique perspective on Allison Katz's artistic practice and its significance.
