Description
Frank Canton's life story has long been shrouded in mystery, but for the first time, his complete biography is available. Born Joe Horner, Canton transformed himself into a lawman after conviction and imprisonment for armed robbery.
Over nearly half a century, Canton pursued felons across the western frontier, working in Texas, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Alaska during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His career spanned bounty hunting, peace officer work, gold prospecting, and ultimately, success as adjutant general of the new state of Oklahoma.
This fast-paced biography is based on exhaustive study of primary materials, including court records, contemporary periodicals, and Canton's own writings and memorabilia collected during his lifetime. It offers unique insights into the legendary Canton's eventful life and how the rule of law was brought to the West by six-guns.
