Description

Alexandra Hendrikoff: Sculptures Inspired by Nature This monograph presents the work of sculptor Alexandra Hendrikoff for the first time, showcasing her innovative artistic language inspired by nature. Her sculptures, often freestanding or floating, examine the language of nature and challenge our technologised world view. Hendrikoff's use of natural materials such as yarn, wood and seeds creates intricate forms that resemble cocoons, living organisms and other natural figures. Two complementary essays provide insight into her artistic process and the artisanal skills that go into producing these works of art. Born in Bavaria in 1965, Hendrikoff trained as a carpenter before studying sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Her work is exhibited internationally, including a residency at the Escola de Artes Visuais in Rio de Janeiro in 2011.
