Description

Published in 1511, Alabanza de la estupidez is one of the most influential works of the Renaissance philosopher Desiderio Erasmo de Rotterdam. This witty and ironic treatise explores the value of foolishness and critiques the use of reason.

Erasmo's unique approach to philosophy is presented through a tone that is both humorous and incisive, as he argues in favour of the benefits of stupidity. The result is a work that has had a profound impact on Western culture and continues to be relevant today.

Translated by poet and essayist Eduardo Gil Bera, this edition offers a fresh and engaging interpretation of Erasmo's masterpiece. A new introduction sets the stage for a re-examination of a work that remains as thought-provoking as ever.
