Description

Abram Games: His Wartime Work by Naomi Games. During World War II, Captain Abram Games was tasked with designing posters for the army. As 'Official War Poster Artist', he created over 100 designs that were used by the Ministry of Information and adapted for civilian use. One of his most famous works is the ATS Blonde Bombshell recruiting poster, which remains an iconic image. Games' approach to design was innovative, employing photographic tricks to convey powerful messages with minimal means. His work has been widely included in books on graphic design, but this book offers a unique focus on Games' wartime work. The Estate of Abram Games holds his extensive archive, featuring personal correspondence, press cuttings, sketches, paintings, and maps from his seven years in army service. This book provides a fascinating insight into the life and work of Captain Abram Games, one of the most influential designers of his era.
