Description

Abolition Feminisms brings together a diverse group of contributors to explore a radical approach to feminism that prioritises anti-violence and resistance to punitive control. This anthology challenges traditional notions of feminism by centreing the experiences of Black feminist and feminist of colour activists, as well as survivors of violence and incarceration. Through their work, these contributors disrupt the politics of carceral feminism, highlighting the need for a full refusal of race-gender pathology and instead advocating for a more inclusive and anti-violent approach to social justice. The result is a powerful collection that sheds light on the importance of abolitionist feminist thought and its potential to transform our understanding of power and oppression. Featuring contributions from over 30 leading voices in the field, Abolition Feminisms offers a timely and necessary contribution to ongoing conversations about the prison-industrial complex and its impact on communities.
