Description
A Young Doctor's Notebook: New Translation by Mikhail Bulgakov This collection of short stories offers a unique glimpse into the turbulent world of a young doctor on the eve of the Russian Revolution. Drawing heavily from the author's own experiences, Bulgakov presents a sharply realistic and humorous portrayal of a medical graduate struggling to navigate his practice in a backward village. As he deals with a superstitious and poorly educated population, the young doctor grapples with doubts about his competence and the immense burden of responsibility that comes with it. This acclaimed collection provides insightful observations on youth, isolation, and progress, making for a compelling read. With its unique blend of realism and humor, A Young Doctor's Notebook is a thought-provoking exploration of the challenges faced by those trying to bring modernity to a rapidly changing world.
