Description
St Helena, a small volcanic outcrop in the South Atlantic Ocean, is a British dependency under a Governor appointed by The Queen. This personal account by its former Governor recounts four eventful years in the 1990s, marked by political trials and intrigue. The story intertwines with significant events on St Helena, including the establishment of an International Ocean Yacht Race, the island's application to join the ICC, and the successful restoration of British Citizenship to its residents. The book also touches on the Governor's first visit to Gough Island in the Roaring Forties. A unique perspective on governance, politics, and community, this memoir offers a fascinating glimpse into life on St Helena during a period of significant change.
