Description

A Slightly Absurd Tale by John Woods-Meakin is a humorous novel about a treasure hunt in war-torn Beirut. When an English architect stumbles upon a cache of gold sovereigns, he sets off a chain reaction of events that leads to a helter-skelter chase through the city's magical and exotic byways. As Sami Hassan, a retired Lebanese warlord, and his hapless henchman Omar pursue the treasure, they become embroiled in a series of absurd and comedic misadventures. With its punctured pomposity and frustrated greed, this novel is a delightful tale of chaos and confusion. John Woods-Meakin brings his own experiences as an architect living in Beirut during the Lebanese civil war to this story, adding a layer of authenticity to the narrative.
